Truthcatcher
Embers, a live-action role-playing
game, by Embers Productions
Judgement
The role of the Truthcatcher is a typical one of a Philodox sitting in
judgement. The major difference in this case is that instead of a
few Garou being present, the entire sept is present and the Truthcatcher
must maintain order over that group. Some words of wisdom for the
Truthcatcher:
-
Let the Master of the Howl know who you are, so he can call you.
-
Speak loudly and distinctly so that everyone can hear you.
-
Be clear about who is allowed to speak and shush those who are not allowed
to speak. Of course, some Truthcatchers will be more lenient than
others.
-
Be careful to call Garou roughly in order of their rank.
-
Don't let cases or judgements drag on - make decisions. If you don't
feel qualified to make a decision, call additional Philodox to join you
in a tribunal.
-
If the players are starting to get bored, then bring the proceedings to
an end even if there are more cases to be heard.
A GM will be present to answer questions if asked. For more information,
you should read the Philodox
bluesheet and the Challenges
bluesheet, along with the private Philodox bluesheet for players from the
Buried Heart.
Cracking the Bone
The Master of the Howl picks up a stick or bone and steps to the caern
center, then speaks.
"And now let us crack the bone to find the marrow of Truth inside!"
[The Master of the Howl howls a high keening howl, ending in a jagged
note]
"[Calls name of the Truthcatcher] will you help us catch the Truth this
night?"
Truthcatcher responds, "Who brings a bone to pick?"
The Cracking the Bone proceeds.
The Trutchcatcher closes the proceedings with, "The bones have been
picked!" If a stick was used to represent the bone, the stick is
then broken.
