game, by Embers Productions
The Werewolf
What does it mean to be a werewolf? This subject is not easily understood
even by the Garou themselves, because it is simply what they are.
Werewolves are neither human nor wolf - they are a unique race of careatures
in and of themselves. This game is about these people, who do their
best to make their way through life after the revelation of their nature:
that they are not the normal humans (or wolves) they once believed they
were. Instead, they are Garou - outsiders, shapeshifters, werewolves,
Earth's last dying protectors against a terrible force that grows stronger
with each passing of the moon.
Characteristics
There are a number of powers and abilities that define a Garou. These
are:
-
Multiple Forms - A werewolf is able to assume human (homid) and wolf (lupus)
forms, along with the intermediate "Crinos" form that is the dreaded "wolfman"
half-form and is known to Garou as the form of war. For more information,
please refer to the Breed bluesheets.
-
Stepping Sideways - Garou are able to enter the spirit world almost at
will. Normally a mirrored surface is required, but more powerful
Theurges can step sideways without a mirror. For more information,
please refer to the Umbra bluesheet.
-
Health - Garou are not really immune to injury or disease, but are incredibly
healthy and regenerate very quickly. Their only weakness is to silver.
At the very least, contact with Luna's metal itches. Specially prepared
silver weapons can do great damage to Garou, though fortunately these are
rare. For more information, please refer to the Life
as a Garou page.
-
Gifts - Garou are able to learn mystical powers from spirits that enable
them to transform themselves and the world around them. In order
to use Gifts, Garou use the Rage, Gnosis and Willpower gifted to them by
Gaia. For more information, please refer to the Combat Resolution
System.
-
Delirium - Garou in Crinos form create a blind, instinctive terror in humans
who view them.
-
Frenzy - Werewolves are extremely emotional creatures and can be overcome
by their emotions, especially the emotion of anger. They can be driven
into a frenzy - a mad, berserk rage. During a frenzy, the Garou instinctively
changes into Crinos form, and nothing is remembered about one's human side
- the domination of the wolf is total.
